SERVICES
Thanks to our expertise and our technologies, we are a competent partner for countless local authorities and companies all around the world. We provide them with professional services from all areas of our wide-ranging portfolio. This covers comprehensive, sustainable key services for local residents all the way through to bespoke waste management, maintenance and cleaning tasks for industrial businesses. Besides delivering cost-effective services, our focus here is always on protecting natural resources, the environment and the climate.
Our goal is always the same when we become shareholders of municipal companies: to support them as their partner. We can do this in a whole range of ways – from helping them with questions of finance all the way through to operating plants cost-effectively and implementing new technologies. Focus here is always on working together on an equal footing. Each partner brings their own strengths to the table so that they can master future challenges together. Something that benefits local residents and helps keep local rates and charges stable.
Our public service division is responsible for delivering all the services needed to make towns and regions a good place for their local residents to live in. Our customers know that they are not only served by well qualified teams but also that they have access to digitised technologies and solutions. For example, when we install sensors in bins to keep an eye on how full they are or use AI-based systems on our collection routes to proactively pick up where cleaning or repair work needs to be carried out. This all helps to make the planning of tasks particularly efficient and to keep towns and cities spotless.
Basel (Switzerland) is heading towards net zero. With REMONDIS’ help as well. Its city sweepers have been equipped with sensors that record both the type and amount of dirt while they are sweeping the roads. This data is then used to plan the most efficient cleaning schedules. This cuts costs and emissions
European cities are leading the way when it comes to net zero waste management logistics. And, in many cases, we have been the ones to make this possible. Being one of the first circular economy companies, we have been increasing the number of our collection vehicles run on alternative fuels. Just one example can be found on the Island of Sylt (Germany) where the whole of our fleet consists of zero-emission, electric refuse collection trucks – and has done since 2024. We began focusing on climate-friendly logistics over 20 years ago. By setting up our own operations in this area. Since then, we have been producing both biodiesel and biogas from organic waste. Vehicles run on these fuels have far fewer carbon emissions than those with engines that require fossil fuels.
Cleanly implementing the European Clean Vehicles Directive (CVD): REMONDIS only uses fully electric collection vehicles to empty the bins on Germany’s Island of Sylt
Electric, biogas, biodiesel or hydrogen – we are open to all types of technologies run on alternative fuels. We work with our municipal partners to find the solution that is right for them.
Digitisation has become an integral part of our everyday lives. Which is why it makes sense to offer more of such services to local residents. Just one example of this can be seen at our digital household waste recycling centres, which we operate at a variety of locations around the world – some of them on a 24/7 basis. This self-service offering enables residents to book a time slot and access the centre digitally – everything is organised via their smartphone. And new, innovative offerings are being added every day to help local authorities and individuals handle their recyclable materials in a sustainable way. For example, our online service where people can book an appointment to have their old clothes picked up. Using zero-emission vehicles, of course.
We also offer classic analogue services: our SafetyTrucks – such as those found in Switzerland – are a popular mobile service for collecting hazardous waste
Thanks to our extensive range of industrial services, we ensure power stations, manufacturing facilities and production equipment achieve the highest levels of reliability, performance and availability. The way we do this is as varied as the industrial sectors and business locations we serve. We take on dozens of tasks for international industrial businesses – from supplying specialist staff, to servicing equipment and machines, all the way through to carrying out all the maintenance work needed on site. In addition, we offer numerous services for firms involved in commerce and trade, such as waste management concepts for garages and workshops and setting up take-back schemes.
We are in charge of all the infrastructure and recycling tasks required for oil separators in Melbourne (Australia).
Every month, we process around four million litres of old oil, wastewater, industrial wastewater, drilling mud, rainwater from the sewer network and many other substances using state-of-the-art technology
REMONDIS has two subsidiaries that specialise in industrial services: BUCHEN UmweltService and XERVON Instandhaltung. Together, they have over 150 branches around the globe.
We are both a well-known name and a highly sought-after partner when it comes to maintaining industrial plants and facilities. This can be seen by taking a look at both where we carry out such projects as well as for whom. We can be found working across the whole of Europe and the Middle East. We serve a variety of customers, including leading international chemical and petrochemical sites.

of managing waste as well as renovating and maintaining facilities at refineries in Bahrain
Besides carrying out classic maintenance tasks, we also provide a comprehensive range of industrial cleaning services. We use state-of-the-art technologies to do such work, including high-pressure, sand blasting, shock wave and glass pearl blasting equipment. Perhaps, however, the know-how and the expertise of our experienced specialist staff are almost more important. They work safely no matter how dangerous the environment and ensure that facilities, boilers and co. are freed of any residue and are fit for purpose – sustainably and in the shortest of time.
BUCHEN’s Finland-based subsidiary DELETE is a proven expert for all industrial cleaning tasks. Dismantling work is also part of its portfolio
Traditionally, industrial services have tended to focus on plant availability, safety and efficiency. More and more, however, the spotlight is being turned on the subject of sustainability. On the one hand, because plants and facilities – such as wind farms – are dedicated to making our world more sustainable. On the other, because industry is increasingly taking on its global responsibilities. Our range of services has not only been adapted to these developments, it is even promoting them. The best example of this is our subsidiary XERVON Wind, which was founded in 2022 and offers a full range of services, from maintaining wind turbines all the way through to dismantling and recycling them. Both offshore and onshore.
