Recycling with no compromises.
Taking back waste electrical & electronic equipment.
Dismantling centres for waste electrical and electronic equipment. The raw materials that we recover here can be fed back into production cycles – a low-cost and unproblematic process. At the same time, all hazardous waste is carefully removed.
Companies active within the electronics branch are obliged by law to take back their waste equipment. REMONDIS helps them to fulfil their tasks and offers both logistical and recycling solutions. In Germany alone, we operate five large dismantling centres with numerous processing units such as systems to dismantle televisions and monitors with automatic CRT separation facilities, high performance fridge and freezer processing facilities and automatic processing facilities for small household appliances, IT and telecommunications equipment as well as consumer electronics. Thanks to these different technologies, many raw materials can be recovered and hazardous materials safely separated.
REMONDIS offers different solutions
Different kinds of systems can be set up to take back waste electrical & electronic equipment, for example:
- Systems to collect waste equipment from households or from industrial/commercial final consumers
- Systems to collect WEEE handed back to retail stores, municipalities and consolidation points
- Take-back systems for individual manufacturers
- Collective take-back systems for a group of manufacturers
Background
The regulations stipulated in the EU Directive 2002/96/EC, better known as the WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment), aim to have WEEE systematically collected and for it to undergo eco-friendly recycling processes. Since December 2006, a minimum of 4 kg of WEEE must be collected and recycled per inhabitant per year.
