New departures: 1969 – 1976.

In 1969, Josef Rethmann Sr. retired from the management of the company – which at that time consisted of 12 trucks and 28 employees – and finally handed it over completely to his son Norbert. RETHMANN soon moved beyond the boundaries of the existing company to purchase an interest in MCA Kewitz.

In 1973, "Firma Josef Rethmann" was renamed RETHMANN KG and MCA Kewitz became the first company branch in Burscheid. Over the following years, the firm continued to grow at a steady rate as a result of the introduction of a new waste management law. RETHMANN KG purchased a wide variety of companies and founded numerous branches.
