On the market for many years.

REMONDIS on the fifth continent.

REMONDIS opened its first branch on the Australian continent back in the 80s.

Endless landscapes, few inhabitants – with a statistical population density of fewer than three inhabitants per square kilometre, Australia is the continent with the lowest population. With large areas of unused space, the country was able to fall back on landfills for its waste disposal for many years. Attitudes, however, have been changing in Australia, too. The subjects of environmental and climate protection have been increasing in importance ensuring that more and more recyclables are being recovered.

Top priority given to closing material life cyclesREMONDIS has been active in the southern hemisphere for almost 30 years now and has concentrated on recycling activities right from the very start. The centre of our activities is Australia where we have five business locations. But New Zealand is catching up. Following the takeover of a local waste management business in 2009, we have been making rapid progress in setting up future-oriented structures in this neighbouring country, too. Activities range from the material recycling of paper, glass and plastics to using organic recyclable material to produce compost.

A change in direction

An ozone layer that is becoming thinner and thinner, years of drought in the interior of the country and endangered coral reefs such as the Great Barrier Reef – as climate change makes itself felt, there is a growing wish in Australia to take effective countermeasures.
